Middle schoolers kick it on field day

“I really enjoyed this year’s field day because last year we had to play football and didn’t have many different activities. We had so many different choices and [at] each station got to try each one. I love that we all got the chance to be together and just have a good time outside of school,” seventh grader Silvia Lee said.

Students got the day to relax, and enjoy some time outside with their friends, on a school day. Middle schoolers had field day on Wednesday, October 14th. This trip teaches students how to work together in teams, and to support one another.

Every year, this event is held at Crocheron Park for both the middle school and high school. Teams are assigned, and proceed to compete with each other, at the field. There are different sports and activities that students can play at different stations. Each station has a referee to watch the students.

“The games [are designed] for safety if anyone gets hurt they can address that issue quickly. If there are any argument between teams the teachers can help efficiate problem solve with the kids, because sometimes kids could get very competitive and lose sight of what’s really important and that’s having fun. So the teachers are there to see if they are doing that,” physical education teacher Mr. Angeles said.

This year’s field day, according to middle schoolers was better than the last. Now on the 22nd it will be the high schoolers turn for field day. Hopefully next year it continues to improve for all the students at WJPS.
