College is just around the corner for seniors and juniors. As the class of 2015 moves on to college, they bring back a few tips and stories about their experiences for high school students.

High school seniors and juniors start preparing for college this time of year by figuring out what college they want to go to and what they want to major in.

College is a place for learning and exploring new ideas. While some students find college as an escape from high school, others may find it as the opposite.

“College is very different from high school. Although college offers more freedom, there is less help. Once you fall behind, you’re on your own,” alumni Jason Chen said.

During high school, teachers are available during lunch, before and after school, and sometimes even during their free periods to help students with work that they didn’t understand.

“It’s hard for students to get in contact with their professors if they need help with something because professors are always busy. Unlike high school, college prepares you to be more of an independent person,” alumni Alice Mungyu said.

Emailing a professor beforehand to schedule an appointment or asking a friend are some ways a student can get the help they need.
