Tracy Morgan sued Walmart over the deadly crash on the New Jersey Turnpike after a Walmart truck crashed into his limo van. On June 7th, not only was Morgan and other friends severely injured, but comedian James McNair “Jimmy Mack” was killed.

The Walmart truck driver Kevin Roper was going over the speed limit and had not had any sleep for the past 24 hours that day. Morgan had been hospitalized due to traumatic injuries of broken ribs, a broken leg and a broken nose.

Wednesday May 27th was the day this case was finally resolved. Morgan received a “confidential settlement” in federal court Newark.

“Walmart should absolutely be sued, but the money shouldn’t all go directly to Tracy Morgan. A much larger sum should go to the family who’s mourning the deaths of their loved ones who were killed in the tragedy. More to the deceased family than those that were injured,” junior Lara Cwass said.

James McNair’s grieving family received $10 million dollars from Walmart. No one knows how the money will be divided.

“I think that it was enough to have a settlement made but nothing could really fix what happened and the pain that McNair’s family is going through as well as what Tracy Morgan has suffered in recovery,” sophomore Pedro Maldonado said.

Morgan is still pulling through while he recovers from a brain injury. He is not quite ready to get back to work but he is slowly making progress.
