Super Bowl XLIX’ intense game broke the record for the most watched show in U.S television history. On top of that, The New England Patriots’ victory against the Seattle Seahawks was the highest rated Super Bowl in the last 30 years, according to nielsen.com. The game reached about 114.4 million viewers between 6:30 and 10:00, this is about 2.2 million viewers more than last years Super Bowl.

“On a scale of 1-10, I’d rate the superbowl this year a solid 10, even if it didn’t end how i’d want it too. The game was great, the halftime show was great, and the commercials were great,” faculty member Mr. Myrtil said.

On top of that, Katy Perry’s halftime show was the most watched performance in Super Bowl history as well. According to deadline.com, Katy Perry averaged about 118.5 million viewers, 30 million more viewers than Bruno Mars’ halftime show last year, which averaged about 88.5 million viewers.

Until Sunday night, The Denver Broncos vs The Seattle Seahawks at Super Bowl XLVIII held the record, but Super Bowl XLIX quickly stole the record right from under them.

“I’d rate the Super Bowl a 9 on a scale of 1-10. I don’t like Katy Perry so I didn’t even watch the halftime show, and I didn’t really enjoy the commercials because they depressed me, but the game itself was very interesting and the team I was rooting for won,” junior Frankie DeBonis said.

Super Bowl XLIX broke the U.S. record for most watched T.V. show in history. Fans have to wait till next year to see if they could take the record once again.
