Knicks fall to the Nets

Battle of the boroughs between the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center ended in defeat for the Knicks and victory for the Nets in home soil. They received bragging rights after this game, but there is more games to be played between the two teams. The Knicks haven't been doing so great this year, hopefully they turn it around soon. Small Forward Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks and Point Guard Deron Williams of the Brooklyn Nets engaged in the latest chapter of their rivalry.

Entering this game, the Knicks had a three game winning streak in the Nets’ home arena.

Streaks were made to be broken as Williams scored 29 points, proving that his ankle injury was a thing in the past.

“Last two years have been a struggle.”They’re [his ankle injuries] behind me now, looking forward to this one and we got a great win tonight,” Williams said.

Center Brook Lopez and Shooting Guard Joe Johnson scored a combined total of 38 points, contributing to the Nets’ 110-99 victory.

This marks the third consecutive loss for the New York Knicks. To their credit, Anthony kept them in the game by scoring 19 points but he only successfully shot 5 times out of 20 tries and wasn’t able to get past Brooklyn’s efficient defense.

What made things worse was the fact that both their starting guards, Point Guard Pablo Prigioni and Point Guard Jose Calderon were inactive due to injuries.

“Things weren’t going well for New York tonight and it was really depressing to see how this loss was against a team I dislike,” sophomore Renee Choong said.

Hopefully the Knicks can get things together and end their losing streak. Their next scheduled game against Brooklyn is on Tuesday, November 2nd.
