Publications take on WJPS
Publications recently had a town hall, describing and presenting each publication class and how they work, looking for students to pursue and try to take the class. This town hall was used to make knowledge of all the different types of publication programs and activities we have in this school, and how they run. It was a very well done town hall and now students are informed about these programs and hopefully had a gravitational pull towards one. Picture by Michelle Psaltakis

All the publication classes came together during town hall to inform middle school and high school students about their publication.
On Wednesday, November 5, Ms. Marks’ (yearbook), Ms. Sacksteins’ (newspaper), Mr.Christopoulos’ and Ms. Robinson’s (broadcast) publication classes all came together and spoke about each publication. Students were able to be involved and get informed on what was going on in each section.
“The intention was to educate the school about what we do in each publication. We were able to give a brief overview and we want freshman and sophomores to make informed decisions when choosing a publication for their junior year,” Ms. Marks said.
It had clarified what each publication did and what the students can do for each. Newspaper writes about all topics pertaining to the students. Any topic of concern is allowed whether is news, entertainment, opinion or feature. All students are allowed to contribute to the school newspaper.
Yearbook is having a throwback theme for this years yearbook. Seniors were asked to hand in baby pictures, pictures from past years, and feature the legacy students. Yearbook staff informed students that its not only for the seniors but from grades 6-12 is featured in the yearbook. Any student is allowed to purchase the yearbook.
Broadcast showed an example of the highlight. Allowing students to see what broadcast airs, which can be viewed on vimeo.
By each publication speaking about what they do, all students can think about what they would like to choose the publication best suited to their liking in time for junior year.
“Since we were allowed to show what each publication did, it will enable students to choose their future publication in school and perhaps out of school,” senior broadcast student Kayleigh Mulvey said.
